It had been some time since I had worked on a project like this when Sean approached me about needing some images for an upcoming album release. My work in creating content for others was wrapped up in my 9-5 since the pandemic, so it was a welcome spark under my ass and much needed push, to get back into this line of work.
I’ve always been a fan of Sean’s work, and was excited to be part of the amazing catalog he has created over the years. When we got down to talking about what he was looking for in terms of images for a Kickstarter campaign and album cover, the project truly began to unfurl in such a magical way.
As we were brainstorming for local areas that would fit the look that he was envisioning for this release, I remembered venturing to the Widow Jane Mine for some hiking visits and a photo shoot years ago. When I presented this idea to Sean, it really got the gears turning – and what initially was meant to be a photoshoot for a campaign, turned into a full fledge photo video project.
Sean and I took an initial trip to the mine to capture the still images that he would use to launch the initial campaign. Following getting those images to Sean, he was able to book the site for an evening the following week after sharing the images and his music with the board of Widow Jane.
We spend a few hours capturing the footage he needed for the early release of several songs, which he edited and compiled into music videos which helped to get him his Kickstarter goal of $35,000 for his album release, raising at total of $41,000.
Sean’s Brand Manager and web designer was delighted with the images as they perfectly represented Sean’s brand and were easy to simply just implement into his website and social media content.
I am forever thankful for Sean for trusting me with this project, and for inspiring me to get back into this work and craft collaborative, visual stories for the awesome work of individuals, artists, organizations and businesses.
Beyond the Cave Session videos and visual campaign, Sean also used images I had taken from a recent trip in Iceland for the front and back art of his latest album Good Fiction which is currently in production.
Sean also utilized images from our session for social media content for his Instagram page and cover images for his song releases on YouTube.
