I had the utmost privilege working with the epically talented Anna Deavere Smith on three occasions for her work Notes From The Field: The Pipeline Project.

Upon connecting with a rep of Anna’s, my first opportunity working with her was during the workshop phase of the project which took place at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. Documenting the day consisted of a run through of the production as well as workshops around the topics surrounding her work.

Following that session, was a public event held at New York University, for the project Hidden Hate/Hidden Love  – A series of art and conversations exploring hate and love, hidden and made visible.  Presented by the Institute on the Arts and Civic Dialogue, by
Founding Director Anna Deavere Smith.

The final stage of work was documenting the finalize production at the Tony Kiser Theater in New York, NY.  The show was documented with a live audience, which required the use of sound dampening equipment.

To say this was a humbling experience is an understatement. Ms. Deavere’s talent is beyond measure and to witness and capture her seamless transition into each character in the production was profound.  I am truly honored and proud to have been a small part of this and being able to document such an important work for this artists catalog.
